What is AirDroid? What can it do?

How does it work?

You already know that it connects your Android device wirelessly with your computer’s browser or the desktop client if you have already installed it. But how does it do that?

For starters, when you open the app on your phone, it offers you multiple ways to use it. The first and fastest way is to use the AirDroid web option which works in local connection mode using your WiFi network. What it does is that it assigns an IP address to your phone’s AirDroid connection which you can easily access in your browser. 

This is the fastest way to transfer files as well as manage your device as it uses the bandwidth of your WiFi network allowing you to utilize it to the max. It also has no limits on file transferring and is completely free.

The second way is to use the app by connecting it through an account where you are logged in, and this is an alternative if you are not on the same WiFi. First, you log in using your AirDroid account on both devices (the Android and the browser) and then connect it using a remote connection where both the computer and Android device will use their respective connections. 

The problem with this method is that it only allows you to transfer up to 200 MB of free data, after which you have to opt for the premium version.

The premium version comes with a lot of goodies including max connection of 3 devices (Android), unlimited data transfer (upload and download) on remote connections, and other features including a camera feature on remote connections. There are three different options you can choose from in terms of the premium subscription which are:

• Monthly: $3.99 per month
• Quarterly: $3.23 per month ($9.69 per quarter)
• Yearly: $2.5 per month ($29.99 per year)
